Not in my classroom: Russias refugee children struggle to get to school "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Headteachers in Russias schools are turning foreign children away fearing hefty fines and pressure from the migration services. RU

Children of Syrian refugees in an improvised school in Jordan. Forty percent of refugee children from the Middle East are not educated. Photo: Freedom House, open source.Nura, 12, takes her belongings from her rucksack and lays them on the desk: a big, bright pink pencil-case emblazoned with the words Im CHIC, a notebook, textbooks, and erasers. Nura always shares erasers with her neighbour Gufran, with whom she sits at the back desk in this classroom. On the next row sit two younger girls another Nura and Soraya, who are best friends. The children slurp lollipops and freshly-picked plums as they take out trading cards. All of them are originally from Aleppo.

The girls have turned up for a lesson at an integration centre in the town of Noginsk, just outside Moscow. Its run by Civic Assistance, a human rights organisation that runs classes for the children of foreign citizens in Russia. The school itself comprises two classrooms in an office building. The walls are covered with posters of the alphabet, animals and household objects, as well as childrens drawings. Among them are samples of applications made to Russias Federal Migration Service (FMS), including possible answers in Arabic and Russian (and phrases such as documents must be submitted to file an application and refusal for temporary asylum).

Usually around 10-15 people turn up for a lesson, but today there are just five girls. After all, tomorrow is the festival of Kurban-Bayram. Theres no single timetable teacher Elena Lebedeva, who is trained in pedagogy, begins the lesson with multiplication tables, then everyone reads a text about a boy, in which they have to insert the missing words in the....

U.S. Ambassador to Germany: Who Is Richard Grenell? "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Richard Allen Ric Grenell, who served as spokesman for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations during the George W. Bush administration, was nominated September 1, 2017, to be the U.S. ambassador to Germany.

Grenell was born September 18, 1966. His parents were evangelicals who traveled between Michigan and California, and Grenell was active in his church from a young age. Grenell also realized early on that he was gay, and hid it from his parents and others even while he attended Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, which was affiliated with the conservative Assemblies of God church. Grenell earned a B.A. there in 1988.

After college, Grenell became an administrator for the American Arbitration Association, but it wasnt long before he was involved in politics. In 1992, Grenell worked for the Bush-Quayle re-election effort. After George H.W. Bush lost the election, Grenell moved on to be an assistant for the National Republican Congressional Committee and then served as press secretary for Rep. Mark Sanford (R-South Carolina) and Rep. Dave Camp (R-Michigan).

Grenell left Washington in 1995 to serve as press secretary for the New York State Lottery under Republican Governor George Pataki. He also began studies at Harvards Kennedy School of Government, where he earned an MPA in 1998. That year, Grenell moved west to be press secretary for San Diego Mayor Susan Golding and subsequently worked for John McCains unsuccessful bid for the 2000 Republican nomination for president.

Grenell was named in 2001 to be the spokesman for the U.S. Mission to the United Nations. Grenell was eventually the longest-serving person to hold that job, working until 2008 under U.N. ambassadors John Negroponte, John Danforth, John Bolton and Zalmay Khalilzad.

Grenell then went into industry, first as vice president of corporate communications for DaVita Healthcare Partners, a dialysis provider that in 2015 was forced by the federal government to pay more than $800 million to settle a fraud case that went back to 2007. In 2009, Grenell struck out on his own, forming Capitol Media Partners, a strategic communications company that counted clients from Iran, Kazakhstan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Somalia, China, Australia, and Timor-Leste among its customers.

In 2012, Grenell served briefly as Mitt Romneys foreign affairs spokesman, but was chased off the campaign by anti-gay attacks from the right. Since then, Grenell has been a contributor to Fox News and other conservative outlets, where he often sniped at the Barack Obama administration.

Grenell was diagnosed wi...

Uzbekistans new leader fails his first test "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

One year after the death of Islam Karimov, the continued use of forced labour in Uzbekistans cotton fields shows how slow the pace of change really is.

Labour in the cotton fields of Fergana Region, eastern Uzbekistan, 17 September 2017. Photo courtesy of Uzbek-German Forum for Human RIghts. All rights reserved.

While President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan tucked into his third course at a New York dinner with wealthy American businessmen on Wednesday night, university students back home were preparing for a long day in the fields plucking cotton.

Despite the presidents promise to outlaw forced labour in the country from which I am exiled, institutions all over the country received an order to send their able-bodied staff and students to harvest cotton. September should be the start of the academic year. Instead, faculties, schools, kindergartens, as well as companies and hospitals, are emptying out as employees are ordered into the sweltering heat to work 14-hour days.

One year ago, the 78-year-old former president, Islam Karimov, died suddenly after suffering a brain hemorrhage. He had been in office for 27 years, presiding over one of the worlds most repressive and secretive regimes. Thousands of innocent people were imprisoned for their politics or their religion. Dissidents were tortured and murdered. Others, like myself, fled in fear of another prison term.

About one million people are forced to work in Uzbekistans cotton sector every year, under threat of losing their jobs or worse

The early actions of the new president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, have encouraged optimism among many of my compatriots and western politicians. He is improving re...

Hackers behind CCleaner compromise were after Intel, Microsoft, Cisco "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

There is a new twist in the CCleaner hack saga: the attackers apparently didnt set out to compromise as many machines as possible. A covert, highly targeted attack According to Cisco, their actual targets were computers at a number of huge tech companies like Intel, Microsoft, Linksys, Dlink, Google, Samsung and Cisco, telecoms such as O2 and Vodafone, and (the odd man out) Gauselmann, a manufacturer of gaming machines. One of the more curious aspects about the dark web is that it didnt start out as such a dark place: it began with bulletin boards in the 80s and 90s the markets of that day and continued in the early 2000s, when Freenet launched as a private peer-to-peer network for sharing content. If you know who Liam Gallagher is, youll no doubt find this both in character and, perhaps, an insightful comment on changing times. If you dont know him, think controversial rock star (lead singer of the band Oasis).

From his Wikipedia page:

Hodinkee review of the Apple Watch Series 3 Edition "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Benjamin Klymer, Executive Editor of Hodinkee:

One of the most amusing things about doing what I do for a living writing about and working with mechanical watches is the reaction that other watch guys expect me, or really any other reasonable watch person, to have about the Apple Watch. They think we should hate it. I dont hate the Apple Watch, nor should anyone else. If anything, the build quality versus price ratio on the Apple Watch is so embarrassing for the Swiss that I genuinely think it will push mechanical watchmakers to be better.

This is a thoughtful, long, and fantastic review of the Series 3 Apple Watch. More specifically, Benjamin is writing and speaking about the ceramic Edition model, which now comes in both grey and white. Dont miss the video at the top, and the terrific collection of pictures sprinkled throughout.

Theres no way to quote out all the chewy goodness in this post, but I did find this particular point fascinating.

On the red dot on every single Apple Watch Series 3 Edition:

All Edition watches feature cellular technology so all Edition watches will feature the red dot.

And:

If Apple did want to have some visual cue to let others know youve copped the new hotness with that cellular bizness inside, why make it a red dot, a logo well known and loved by a brand with which many consumers of luxury digital products are well acquainted Leica? Hell, Apple designers Jony Ive and Marc Newson even collaborated on a Leica for the Red Charity Auction in 2013. Again, the red dot isnt a huge deal, but Id love to get the background on this. Why that and why there?

To see this red dot similarity for yourself, just hop over to the Leica camera web site. That red dot is all over the place. Interesting.

iOS Control Center: Understanding how the WiFi and Bluetooth toggles work "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

John Gruber, commenting on the fact that the WiFi and Bluetooth buttons in Control Center no longer act as on/off switches:

This is an interesting feature, but I think its going to confuse and anger a lot of people. Until iOS 11, the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles in Control Center worked the way it looked like they worked: they were on/off switches. Now, in iOS 11, they still look like on/off switches, but they act as disconnect switches.

Off the top of my head, I would suggest making them three-way switches: on and connected, on but disconnected, and off.

Completely agree. This setup is confusing. As John points out, when you tap the WiFi button, WiFi is left on, but you are disconnected from your current session. Tap it again, you are reconnected. The icon goes from a blue background to a grey background, and back to blue when you reconnect.

To complete the picture, there is a third icon state. Take a look at what happens when you turn on airplane mode:

The grey background with the line through it shows that Bluetooth and WiFi are now disconnected. In Airplane mode, a tap on the WiFi icon goes from disabled to connected (assuming theres WiFi to be had), from grey with a line through it to the blue background.

Confusing. But once you get the sense of it, its pretty clear whats happening.

Nancy Pelosi Run Off Stage at Press Conference, 1795 "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

- Nobel Gold & Silver: Protect Your Money With Gold - Click Here- https://goo.gl/kx2yzW Or Call - 888-596-7916 Good morning, Im still reporting on: Nancy Pelosi Run Off Stage at Press Conference, 1795 Synopsis: Yesterday in San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi was shouted down by the very dreamers she was there to have a press conference about urging passage of the Dream Act to protect the children of illegals from deportation. About 60 so-called Dreamers mounted the stage shouting, All of us or none of us, and Democrats deport. The raucous group managed to shout down all attempts to proceed with the carefully orchestrated event. After an hour of noisy chanting and speech-making on the part of the Dreamers, Pelosi and two Democrat colleagues gave up and left the venue through a back door. This demonstrates yet another step in the decline of civility in the democratic process only this time, it is being used against Democrats, instead by them against supporters of President Trump. Democrats have been crushing these American political traditions for several years now and this is the end result. Now new socialists, yearning to get their young faces on the nightly news are angling to replace the old socialists and modeling their bad behavior. Unless Democrats take an about face and start moving back towards bi-partisan governance and treating, yes, even Trump supporters with respect, the bonds of comity that have bound the Republic together will only disintegrate at an ever-faster pace fracturing the nation. This is exactly what our enemies want. And, unfortunately, our enemies are now amongst us. Democrats need to heed the lessons of history - just as in the French Revolution when the Republic descends into thuggery, the thugs will come for the Democrats first. It should also start with a K. You may have heard that James Damore is continuing to discredit himself further with some weird musings on Twitter.

Klabee
Kladd
Klaliff
Klarogo
Klazik
Kleagle
Klexter
Kligrapp
Klokan
Klokard
Klonsul
Kludd

You can call yourself whatever you want. But lets not forget that the KKK is all about terror, bigotry, and murder, and all the cool names in the world wont change that.

Damore also has an explanation for why people join the KKK. Its not racism. Its not even economic insecurity. Its because they want to be called a Klokard.

Jebus. The question is no longer about why Damore was fired from Google, its how did he get the job there in the first place?

Also, is he aware that there are pages and pages and pages on the web that are all about how stupid some of the names and creatures in D&D are?

I still dont have a good word for Damore, so Im going to have to invent one. Klaggart. Or maybe Klook.

Four new toads discovered in Sumatra "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"

BOGOR, Indonesia Scientists described four new toads from the hills of Sumatra, adding to the islands already astounding biodiversity. The discoveries mark the first Sumatran additions to the Philautus genus of shrub frogs since the early 20th century. Several were described in the Western Ghats of India in 2009. The researchers published their findings in Herpetological Monographs last month. They hail from the University of Brawijaya in Indonesia, and the University of Texas at Arlington and Broward College in the U.S. Specimens of the newly described species Philautus amabilis, Philautus polymorphus, Philautus thamyridion and Philautus ventrimaculatus were collected from 2013 to 2015 in jungles over 1,000 meters above sea level. As in the rest of Indonesia, the forests of Sumatra are full of unknown creatures, but are rapidly dwindling as industry expands, especially in the agriculture and mining sectors. Globally, scientists believe that more than 80 percent of species remain undiscovered. Maps showing the distribution of the Sumatran Philautus genus. Image courtesy of Herpetological Monographs. The four toads differ from one another in their skin patterns, limb shapes and voices. The last name of Philautus amabilis derives from a Latin word meaning charming or pretty. For the scientists, this defines the toads bright brown back and the dark lines that appear on its arms, thighs, hind legs and outer fingers. The name Philautus polymorphus was inspired by its variety of colors and patterns, but the animal is recognizable by the cone-shaped bumps on its eyelids. Philautus thamyridion was named after Thamyris,

Late Night Comedian Kimmel Tells FOX Host: Ill Pound You When I See You (Video) "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Comedian Jimmy Kimmel turned his late night show into a lecture on the failed and bankrupt Obamacare this week. He considers himself an expert because his son had heart surgery. Of course, he has no idea that the premiums are unaffordable for a majority of American families. But, hes an elitist so hes going to lecture anyway.

On Wednesday night he followed his lecture on Obamacare with threats to beat FOX host Brian Kilmeade.

This was in his opening monologue.
Real Clear Politics reported:

On the Wednesday broadcast of his late-night program, Jimmy Kimmel responded to criticism he has received for his controversial monologue Tuesday night where he ripped Republican Senator Bill Cassidy for using his name to push for the Cassidy-Graham Obamacare replacement proposal.

Kimmel, a fierce proponent of the healthcare law, received many rebuttals for his political statement notably FOX & Friends host Brian Kilmeade. Kilmeade called Kimmel a member of the Hollywood elite for pushing politics. Wednesday night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the host set his aim at the FOX host and let loose.

Kimmel said the FOX host kisses my ass like a little boy meeting Batman whenever the two cross paths and claimed he is dying to be a member of the Hollywood elite.

I Think There Will Be War: Iraqi Kurds Fear Conflict After Referendum "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Official fears violence after 25 September independence vote, as disputes grow in areas controlled by Kurd forces outside original KRG borders.

(MEE)  Fears of fresh conflict in northern Iraq are bubbling to the surface weeks before Iraqi Kurds hold a contentious vote on independence, with warnings of war over disputed, ethnically mixed border regions and reports of Shia forces pushing Kurd officials from a town to prevent voting.

The Kurdistan Regional Government, or KRG, has refused repeated requests from Baghdad, the US and regional powers to postpone its 25 September referendum, saying it would only do so if an alternative was presented by Iraqs central government.

Tensions have risen in areas liberated by KRG forces outside the regions original 2003 borders, including the city of Kirkuk. On Monday the KRGs president, Massoud Barzani, said any attempt to change the reality using force in Kirkuk should expect that every single Kurd will be ready to fight.

Dr Jutyar Mahmoud, a member of the regions independence referendum commission, told Middle East Eye that disputed territories such as Kirkuk were the focus of fears of a new conflagration after the referendum.

We will face border problems in the near future and I definitely think there will be another war, and soon, he said.

He described Iraq as militarily weak, after three years of battling the Islamic State (IS), during which time forces have suffered extensive losses, particularly in the recent nine-month fight to liberate Mosul.

A greater threat, he said, was posed by Iraqs other army the Iranian-backed paramilitary Hashd al-Shaabi, or Popular Mobilisation force.

The Hashd are another threat and maybe Iran will push them to fight us, Mahmoud said, adding that Iraqs prime minister, Haider al-Abadi, doesnt control the Hashd, but Iran can.

How Profit Deals With Protest: The Disappearance Of Argentinian Activist Santiago Maldonado "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Over 40 days have passed since the forced disappearance of Argentinian activist Santiago Maldonado. President Mauricio Macris government appears to be more preoccupied with protecting the impunity of the Argentine Military Police, also known as the gendarmerie, than with listening to the demands for Maldonados release or at least for information on his whereabouts and condition being made by a mobilized populace.

Maldonado was detained and disappeared on August 1 while participating in a protest in Chubut calling for the release of Mapuche leader of the Ancestral Mapuche Resistance (RAM), Facundo Jones Huala. Jones had been detained upon extradition requests by Chile. Both Argentina and Chile have labeled Jones a terrorist, on account of his resistance activities against capitalist exploitation of ancestral Mapuche territory.

The group of activists together with Maldonado, who blocked the road during the protest, were accosted by the Argentine Gendarmerie, who fired rubber bullets at the activists upon orders given by the Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich.

According to witnesses, Maldonado was beaten by the military police and forced into a van. His whereabouts and fate remain unknown. Matias Santana, who testified before Judge Guido Otranto on September 5, stated that he watched through binoculars as Maldonado was beaten and taken away by the military police to an undisclosed location.

In traditional hard-boiled and crime novels, women either provoke violence as femme fatales or need protection as paying clients or wandering daughters. Some authors were dissatisfied with this convention. Drawing upon the potentials of pulp fiction and film noirs formula of restlessness, dread and discontent within social corruption, women novelists subverted the genre to explore early feminist and political themes. Police use 'immediate detentions' to jail people for more than 90 days (Updated) "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

The police state is creating an entirely new incarceration system, 'immediate detentions'.

What are 'immediate detentions' you ask?

Since 2014 Indiana police have been using 'immediate detentions' to justify arresting hundreds of people.

"In fact, this years 178 immediate detentions instances when individuals expressed a desire to injure themselves or others due to their mental state have already surpassed the 157 instances in 2014."

According to Indiana law, police can immediately arrest and detain anyone for 24 hours. (For more information read House Bill 1130.) By anyone, I mean those people a police officer claims are mentally unstable.

Could the police officer arresting people indefinitely, also be mentally unstable?

The fact is hundreds of police officers kill themselves each year. The National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Suicide Prevention Resource Center have pages devoted to law enforcement suicide prevention. Law enforcement suicides are so prevalent, even the International Association of Chiefs of Police has devoted a page to it. They even provide 'sample suicide prevention materials' and 'sample funeral protocols' to police departments.

Fyi, police officers are also asked to 'voluntarily' submit to annual menta...

Russian military exercises along NATOs Eastern flank will demonstrate Putins intent, says experts familiar with the matter.

Between September 14 and 20, Russia will execute one of its biggest military exercises since the end of the Cold War. While some Western estimates put the number of troops taking part at up to one hundred thousand, the Russians insist these figures are exaggerated. No other exercise has been followed by Western analysts with comparable attention since 1990, though Moscow claims the drills are routine. So far, NATOs response has been to take the Kremlin at its word, with no plans for additional deployments in the East. But this may change.

French neofascists expel bigwig for eating treasonable African food "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

This 2016 video is called How To Cook Simple Vegetarian Couscous.

Couscous is a famous originally North African dish, now eaten in many countries.

Recently, Florian Philippot, the vice president of the French neofascist National Front party, was spotted eating it.

Philippots fellow neonazis did not like that treasonable eating of Muslim food.

The quarrel between National Front fuehrer Marine Le Pen and deputy fuehrer Philippot led today to Philippot no longer being deputy fuehrer and no longer being a National Front party member.

In Italy, the French National Fronts racist colleagues, the xenophobic Lega Nord Party, who used to be in the Rightist Berlusconi government coalition; a party whose Members of the European Parliament praise mass murderer Anders Breivik from Norway, are infamous for their crusade against other Islamic food: kebab.

One should hope that a Lega Nord bigwig will spot another Lega Nord bigwig secretly eating kebab. And that the quarrel resulting from that will harm the...

NLC, TUC Reject ULCs Calls for National Strike in Nigeria
By Kayode Ekundayo, Lagos
Nigeria Daily Trust
Sep 18 2017 2:00AM

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), however, has rejected the seven-day ultimatum, issued by its parallel body, United Labour Congress of Nigeria (ULC), saying the proposed strike is meant to blackmail the federal government with the ultimate goal of obtaining registration.

In a joint press statement signed by the NLC president, Ayuba Wabba and Trade Union Counterpart, Bobboi Bala Kaigama, said the ULC consists of NLCs colleagues who are trying to take advantage of the unstable security and industrial relation situation in the country to increase the tension and give bad name to trade unionism.

Nigerians need to know that they are not a legitimate organisation recognised by the laws of our country. They are largely a collection of individuals who find it difficult to accept the will of Nigerian workers, as very clearly demonstrated during the March 12-13, 2015, election that took place at the
Eagle Square, Abuja in which they were roundly defeated.

ULC which is being led by Joe Ajaero, a former vice president of NLC last week issued a seven-day ultimatum after which the union shall embark on Industrial actions.

The ultimatum expired last week Friday.

We urge the Federal Ministry of Labour and workers to discountenance the threats of this illegal association. The ministry must be steadfast in upholding the laws governing trade union practice in the country, the unions said.

Since their failure in the March 2015, 10th delegates conference of the NLC, these individuals have tried to use every tactic to destabilise the industrial relations scene in the country. First they tried to factionalise the NLC, and for almost two years were parading themselves as factional leaders of the NLC. When they realised that they were largely ignored by Nigerian workers and the Nigerian people, at the beginning of this year, they dusted up the name of one of the four trade union centres that in December 1975 voluntarily merged to form the NLC, and now purports to have become a new Labour Centre in the country, called the United Labour Congress.......

Nancy Ohanian looks at Trumpanzee

Eliminating MS-13 and other violent criminal gangs should be a priority for law enforcement that all Americans should support. But that isn't what Barbara Comstock's Criminal Alien Gang Member Removal Act (H.R. 3697) is actually about. Her bill passed last week 233-175. Only one Republican, libertarian Justin Amash (MI), voted against it. 11 fake-Democrats took the bait and crossed the aisle to vote with the Republicans. Now Ryan is running around claiming the bill passed with "bipartisan support."

The 11 Democrats who voted for it are the worst of the Republican wing of the Democratic Party, primarily Blue Dogs and New Dems who consistently support the Republican Party policy agenda. Only one-- Ruben Kihuen-- hasn't earned an "F" from ProgressivePunch (and he has a "C"). These are the Democrats who gave Ryan and McCarthy the right to call the bill "bipartisan."

At a conference on under-nutrition organised by the Ministry of Women and Child Development this week, Union minister Maneka Gandhi said that the government is keen to overhaul the Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) and withdraw the provisions of cooked food and rations to children, and pregnant and lactating women, and replace it with cash transfers. She also said the government will shift the focus of the policy from administering food to administering nutrition.

The move is at odds with recommendations by the health ministry, the National Food Security Act and Supreme Court orders. It is, however, in consonance with the NITI Aayogs recent recommendations from a 114 page document,...

Pepe Escobar: Unmasking his new Doctrine, Trump vows carnage for "wicked" N. Korea, Iran and Venezuela "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

This was no "deeply philosophical address". And hardly a show of "principled realism" - as spun by the White House. President Trump at the UN was "American carnage," to borrow a phrase previously deployed by his nativist speechwriter Stephen Miller. One should allow the enormity of what just happened to sink in, slowly. The president of the United States, facing the bloated bureaucracy that passes for the "international community," threatened to "wipe off the map" the whole of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (25 million people). And may however many millions of South Koreans who perish as collateral damage be damned. Multiple attempts have been made to connect Trump's threats to the madman theory cooked up by "Tricky Dicky" Nixon in cahoots with Henry Kissinger, according to which the USSR must always be under the impression the then-US president was crazy enough to, literally, go nuclear. But the DPRK will not be much impressed with this madman remix. That leaves, on the table, a way more terrifying upgrade of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (Trump repeatedly invoked Truman in his speech). Frantic gaming will now be in effect in both Moscow and Beijing: Russia and China have their own stability / connectivity strategy under development to contain Pyongyang.

Death Becomes AR: How The Military Is Using Augmented Reality "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Arthur T Knackerbracket has found the following story:

Depending on where you rest your hat, the words "AR battle" could mean some very different things. You might still be hankering to have your Pikachu rain down lightning on a friends' Squirtle in Pokemon Go, or, if you're recovering from the iPhone X launch, be wondering when you'll be able to send your mini troops into a tabletop augmented reality warzone in Directive Games' The Machines.

But if you're among the thousands in attendance at the Defence and Security Equipment International 2017 (DSEI) conference at London's Excel Centre, those battles and warzones in question become altogether more real. As, while the consumer world waits patiently for the giants of Cupertino to lift the covers off the rumored Apple AR glasses, the military has been dabbling in augmented reality interfaces for years.

The transparent nature of AR glasses lets the wearer maintain situational and environmental awareness.

What was once the reserve of fighter pilots, the advances of Moore's Law means that impressive heads-up display units will soon be standard issue for regular ground troops. Through the use of wearable glasses and headsets, key data points will be overlaid onto a battlefield everything from mapping information to mission parameters to markers defining the movements of allied troops and enemy forces.

Topographical data can be relayed to a troop along with video feeds from remote overhead drones or fellow forces elsewhere on the field. All the while, the transparent nature of AR glasses (as opposed to the all-encompassing view of a virtual reality headset) lets the wearer maintain situational and environmental awareness. The potential chaos of what's going on around a soldier can still be seen and actioned upon.

Republican Voters Surge: If Election Were Today, Trump Would Win MORE States "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Guest post by Michael LaChance at American Lookout:

The 2016 election was almost a year ago but apparently the Republican wave is still rolling. American voters in states across the country are still trending towards Republicans.
Big League Politics reported:

DATA: Voter Registration Trends Favor Republicans Bigly

An ongoing analysis of voter registration trends since November 2016the election of Donald Trumpcontinues to show significant trends toward Republicans almost across the board. A couple of notes on the data are necessary:

1. In many casesalmost all except Arizona and Delawarethe total number of registered Democrats and Republicans both has fallen. This is normal. Secretaries of State purge voter rolls of those who have moved, died, or asked to be removed from the rolls. The baseline month is November 2016, but some states have not updated up to September. I used the most recent date in these cases. Pennsylvanias data has still not been updated from May, but Ill include it anyway.

2. New Jersey was the only state to show one party declining (the Democrats) and the other gaining (the Republicans, though only by 287 voters).

3. Unfortunately MI, WI, OH, MN, VA, GA, and TX do not register voters by party, so tracking these states is not possible. Once some of themsuch as OHhave primaries, a comparison to previous primary turnout would be beneficial.

Will this continue into 2018 and 2020? Theres a great chance it will.

Good walkthrough by Christian Zibreg, iDownloadBlog, on using Notes to scan and save documents.

I love this feature. And I find it interesting to think about edge detection at work here. Watch how the scanner detects the edges of a piece of paper laying on a table, automatically adjusts the scanning frame so you end up with a relatively rectangular result.

This object and edge detection is a hallmark of ARKit. Not certain thats how this was done, but would not surprise me if it was.

Dental Surgeon Explains What Negative Emotions Could Do To Human Salivary Proteins & Teeth/Mouth "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

By Arjun Walia

A number of scientists around the world are publishing studies, and examining what can happen to our biology when we experience physiological coherence, or heart coherence. Physiological coherence refers to the biological state the human body experiences when the heart and brain are well-coordinated, working in synchronicity,  and united by our positive emotional health, which results in the increased synchronization, harmony, and efficiency in the interactions within and among the physiological, cognitive, and emotional systems in the body.

Perhaps the leading scientists in the field are the ones over at the HeartMath Institute, whose research findings have shown that when we practice heart coherence, and take on more feelings of gratitude, compassion, appreciation and love, our heart generates a coherent electromagnetic wave into the local field environment that facilitates social coherence. This means that our electromagnetic field could carry biological relevant information that can effect those around us. Proponents in this field have shown that, theoretically, it is possible that enough people building individual and social coherence could actually contribute to an unfolding global coherence.

Not only that, and the main point here, is that a state of coherence can cause nervous system chaos, and the opposite can have a positive effect. Their research has shown that when we experience negative emotion, the heart sends very different signals to the brain as opposed to experiencing positive emotions. In turn, this influences our nervous system.

Dr. Deborah Rozman, the President of Quantum Intech, explains that its an alignment within and amongst systems whether quantum particle, organisms, human beings, social groups, planets or galaxies. This harmonious order signifies a coherent system whose optimal functioning is directly related to the ease and flow in its processes....

Hackers use Find My iPhone to remotely lock Macs, demand ransom "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

Juli Clover, MacRumors:

Over the last day or two, several Mac users appear to have been locked out of their machines after hackers signed into their iCloud accounts and initiated a remote lock using Find My iPhone.

With access to an iCloud users username and password, Find My iPhone on iCloud.com can be used to lock a Mac with a passcode even with two-factor authentication turned on, and thats whats going on here.

This does appear to be a genuine hole in Apples security scheme, though iCloud itself was not hacked.

Seems like this is fixable. From the comments:

When you go to remote lock a device you enter a lock passcode and the devices password or passcode. When that is sent to the Mac, iPhone, whatever, if the device password doesnt match, it wont lock the device. That way, even if a hacker guesses your Apple ID and password using hacked credentials, they still cant lock the device without the Macs login.

Not sure if this is doable, since your Macs password is not stored in the cloud, but maybe the entered password could be encrypted, sent to the Mac, and the Mac could decrypt and compare.

What It Feels Like Going To Uni If Youre Working Class "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"

ED~I can really relate to a LOT of this, its slightly adapted from his bright contribution

~~~~~~~~
Someone told me the other day that trying to define what the terms middle class and working class mean is the most categorically middle class, privileged thing you can do. I think its croquet, but thats a close second.
.
Issues of class are tricky territory, and talking about them brings countless problems: of misunderstanding, erasure, tone policing, patronisation, privilege competition and all those really bleak things that make people shy away from subjects and silence their own experience. As working class people, we are constantly talked about but never given the privilege of being platformed in our own right.
.
As a working class person, I have spent a lot of time amplifying conversations about my past and equal amounts of time hushing up my working class background, silencing it and avoiding talking about it, terrified that if people really knew they would start to write narratives for me. Narratives such as the patronising Boy done good, the offensive Arent you glad you escaped? or just simple changes in the way people treat you, where they think its their duty to educate you and tell you how to behave, and that you, as a working class person, have nothing of note to share.
.
For many people like me who come from working class backgrounds, the first time you experience the mind-blowing class divide is at university.
.
The differences between you and your more culturally and financially wealthy peers never feels quite so expansi...
Why you should consider ordering The Matrix Revealed
by Jon Rappoport
September 21, 2017
My mega-collection, The Matrix Revealed, contains interviews with two men who go farther in explaining how Matrix Reality is built, brick by brick, than anything Ive ever encountered.
The first man is Ellis Medavoy (pseudonym), a retired propaganda master who, for many years, served the Deep State/ shadow government. Over a series of interviews (28 interviews, 290 pages), Ellis reveals how the space, time, and rhythm of the mind is shaped by operators who know more about REAL psychology than all the academics at all the colleges in the world.
The second man is brilliant hypnotherapist, Jack True. Jack and I researched together for several years. In 43 interviews (320 pages), Jack lays bare his experiences with patients, and how he discovered mechanisms of the mind that could be manipulatedor used to liberate the mind from its own traps and diversions and deeply ingrained habits.
Together, these two men showed me more about the Matrix than I had found in decades of investigation. Their insights are as much about liberation as they are about mind control.
The Matrix Revealed also contains my logic course, designed to immerse people with a high-school reading level in the first waves of rational thinking and analysis.
You can watch me briefly discuss The Matrix Revealed here:
And here are the full contents of my mega-collection, The Matrix Revealed:
Let There Be Ignorance! "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
After playing an unbelievably bad atheist philosophy professor in Gods Not Dead, Kevin Sorbo is going to stretch his range by playing an unbelievably bad atheist doctor of medicine in Let There Be Light. Watch the trailer and be in awe of Jerkules acting chops!
Can you spot the Christian tropes in the plot summary?
After suffering the traumatic loss of his youngest son to cancer, Dr. Sol Harkens (Kevin Sorbo) loses faith and heads down a path of darkness. Distancing himself from his ex-wife Katy (Sam Sorbo) and their two remaining sons, Sol turns to alcohol to numb his pain. Soon his bad habits catch up to him, and Sol is involved in a serious car accident that leaves him dead for four minutes before he is resuscitated. What Sol experiences during this time changes his outlook on life and brings him closer to his family and faith.
I see
  • Atheists are angry at the gods because of some trauma.
  • Leaving the gods sends you down a path of darkness.
  • Youll lose all your friends and family if you dont follow the gods.
  • When youre near death, boy will you regret not believing in the gods.
  • Dreams and the confabulations of the unconscious mind are objective evidence of the existence of the gods.
Poor Kevin seems to be making a career of playing a caricature of an atheist, poorly, who then undergoes a miraculous conversion, unconvincingly. The most persuasive part of the trailer for me is when Sorbo accepts Christ into his life after suffering a traumatic brain injury, and as a reward, Satan (played by Sean Hannity) shows up to offer him a chance to appear on Fox News. Nope, Im convinced. No way will I ever drink the Christian Kool-Aid.
On September 20, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the Syrian Republican Guard (SRG), the National Defense Forces (NDF) and other pro-government factions seized Masrab, Turayf, Buwaytiyah and Tibni villages and the Salim Mount from ISIS on the western bank of the Euphrates River.
At the same day, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a military operation against ISIS vowing to reach the border with Iraq. The SDF advanced towards the ISIS-held town of al-Suwar and captured 12km of a highway heading to it.
Reports also circulated that some side conducted an airdrop on the Conco Gas Plant north of Khusham. Initial reports suggested that the airdrop was made by government forces. Others argued that it was conducted by the US-led coalition. However, by September 21, no videos or photos had appeared confirming these reports.
On September 21, clashes continued between government forces and ISIS in Khusham town on the eastern bank of the Euphrates where the SAA and the SRG were attempting to break the ISIS defense and to expand its control zone in order to further encircle ISIS in Deir Ezzor city and to set a foothold for an advance towards al-Busayrah.
I will make half of you disabled and let the other half push wheelchairs Israeli commander to Palestinians "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Violence / Detentions West Bank / Jerusalem
How Israel is disabling Palestinian teenagers
BETHLEHEM, occupied West Bank 21 Sept by Jaclynn Ashly  In the Dheisheh refugee camp, it is common to see Palestinian teenagers with deep scars dotting the length of their legs, while posters and murals of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces adorn the concrete walls testaments to a disturbing reality of routine Israeli violence in the camp. International law prohibits the use of live ammunition on civilians, except as a last resort during an imminent threat of life. However, Israeli soldiers freely fire live bullets at Palestinians during confrontations or military raids. Both Palestinian and Israeli rights groups have noted that Israels excessive use of force on Palestinians has caused scores of permanent and temporary disabilities in the occupied Palestinian territory The Bethlehem-based Palestinian NGO Badil reported a significant increase in Palestinian injuries in the refugee camps last year, the majority of which were caused by live ammunition. Most of the gunshot wounds were directed at the lower limbs of the youth in the camps, now commonly referred to as kneecapping.  Residents of the Dheisheh camp say that an Israeli army commander, who the youth in Dheisheh refer to as Captain Nidal, has been threatening to intentionally disable Palestinians in the camp. I will make half of you disabled and let the other half push the wheelchairs, he has been reported as saying. Badil underscored that the threats indicate that incidents of kneecapping are not accidental or isolated. But instead result from a systematic Israeli military policy aimed at suppressing resistance, terrorising Palestinian youth, and permanently injuring them and/or causing significant damage to their physical and mental well-being.[personal narratives follow]
It is separated from the rest of Myanmar by the Yuma range running north to south. The total area of Arakan is 13,540 square miles and its population almost 2,000,000. And it is here that politics and violence around the Rohingya and their identity has been playing out for centuries.
7 Crucial Signs Your Body Is Lacking Vitamin B12 "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
By Peace Quarters
A vitamin B12 deficiency is way more common than you think. It can impact people in just about any age range but is most common in women between 40 and 60 years old. But just because you dont fall into that category doesnt mean you dont need more B12 in your life, being a vegan or vegetarian can also put you at risk for a deficiency.
First, lets look at why B12 is so important. Its actually one of the key components in your bodys ability to make red blood cells. It also plays a role in nerve development and can impact DNA. So, a lack of B12 in your body can come with symptoms you shouldnt ignore.
1. LIGHT HEADEDNESS
If you find yourself feeling lightheaded on a regular basis, then it might be a cause for concern. Being a bit dizzy from time to time is easy to dismiss, but if you think you are suffering from being off balance almost day to day, then thats a red flag for a B12 deficiency.
2. NUMBNESS
Its OK and natural to have a hand or leg fall asleep on occasion, especially if say youve been sitting on your foot. But if you fill that pins and needles sensation without the compression of that body part, that a sign you may need more B12. Some people have also described the feeling of an electric jolt that comes in waves. Those sensations are actually the result of nerve damage brought on by a lack of B12.
3. PALE SKIN
Since B12 helps produce red blood cells, the less of those you have in your body, the paler you may become. Alabaster skin is OK if thats been your natural tone since birth but a sudden onset of paleness could be due to the lack of red blood cells in your body.
4. SCATTERBRAINED
Ever walk into a room and forget why you were heading in there? Or text a friend only to discover you forgot why? Little bouts of forgetfulness are common, but if its starting to impact your life, it might be time to talk to your doctor. Being a constant scatter-brain is a possible indication of a B12 deficiency.
5. BEING OVERLY TIRED
If youre keeping a normal sleep schedule but still cant get through the day without feeling completely run down, it might be time to take a closer look at your B12 levels. Chronic fatigue is a symptom of a lack of vitamin B12. The less red blood cells you have in circulation means less oxygen and less O2 can leave you feeling exhausted o...
Jim Carrey Allegedly Says Apples Face ID Will Lead To New World Order "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
jim carrey
Jim Carrey allegedly isnt a big fan of Apples new Face ID program. The controversial technology has been the source of much discomfort for those want basic rights after Apple revealed just what it can do.
Actor Jim Carrey even warned Apple that he will never use their products again and he isnt alone. According to Your News Wire, Carrey said that Apples new iPhone Face ID technology will be used by the global elite to enslave humanity and usher in a totalitarian New World Order.
*Please note, that these allegations made my Your News Wire could not be verified.*
The Face ID technology could, however, be used by police to violate rights by unlocking a persons phone without their consent. But theres another more sinister use for the Apples Face ID: easy mass spying.
But FaceID should create fear about another form of government surveillance too. And this one is a rights violation of every person on earth: mass scans to identify individuals based on face profiles. Law enforcement is rapidly increasing their use of facial recognition; one in two American adults are already enrolled in a law enforcement facial recognition network, and at least one in four police departments has the capability to run face recognition searches. This could make Apple the target for a new mass surveillance order.  SHTFPlan
Jim Carrey allegedly said at the Toronto Film Festival, If George Orwell wrote 1984 today, it would have been about tech companies ruling over a totalitarian state instead of communists, the stores would be called town squares and the phones that you are forced to buy would read your face. Carrey was promoting the Netflix documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond.
Newly discovered hermit crab shelters in corals, not shells "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Left: Diogenes heteropsammicola and its coral house. Right: the hermit crab without its coral house. Image: Momoko Igawa
By Mariah Quintanilla, 2:57pm, September 20, 2017:
This newfound hermit crab finds shelter in corals, not shells
Symbiotic find is surprising as these corals already pal up with another critter: marine worms
A new species of hermit crab discovered in the shallow waters of southern Japan has been enjoying the perks of living like a peanut worm. Like the worms, the 7- to 8-millimeter-long hermit crab uses corals as a covering, researchers report September 20 in PLOS ONE.
Other kinds of hermit crabs live in coral reefs, but typically move in and out of a series of mollusk shells as the crabs grow. Diogenes heteropsammicola is the first hermit crab known to form a mutually beneficial relationship with two species of mobile corals called walking corals. The host coral grows with the crab, providing a permanent home for the crustacean. In exchange, the crab helps the coral walk.
Walking corals are already known to be in a symbiotic relationship with a different sea creature ...
Theresa May Briefs Cabinet to Reboot Brexit Talks "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
LONDON The Latest on Britains talks to leave the European Union (all times local):
12:05 p.m.
British Prime Minister Theresa May is briefing her Cabinet on plans to reboot faltering Brexit negotiations, as she struggles to unite the government after a public rift.
May is outlining details of a speech she will deliver in Florence, Italy on Friday. She has chosen the historic heart of Europe as the location for an address that the government says will stress Britains desire for a close and special relationship with the bloc.
Divorce negotiations have made little progress on key issues including the status of the Ireland-Northern Ireland border and the amount Britain must pay to settle its financial commitments to the bloc.
EU leaders will be looking for May to signal Britains willingness to pay up. But some members of her Cabinet oppose paying a multibillion-pound (dollar, euro) bill.
11:30 a.m.
A senior European Union official is doubtful that Britains talks on leaving the EU can advance to a new phase next month, fueling concern that a Brexit deal might not be found by the 2019 deadline.
EU leaders meet Oct. 19-20 and were expected to assess whether negotiations have made sufficient progress on Britains departure for talks on future relations and trade to begin.
But a senior EU official said Thursday that its too early to tell whether the leaders can decide. The official briefed reporters only on condition that she not be named.
Spanish Crackdown Has Undermined Catalan Independence Bid It is obvious that we wont be able to vote as we would have liked "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
MADRID/BARCELONA Catalan leaders acknowledged on Thursday that plans to hold a referendum independence from Spain on Oct. 1 were now in doubt following the arrest of senior regional officials and the seizure of campaign material by national police.
The Madrid government, facing one of Spains biggest political crises since the end of the Franco dictatorship and return of democracy four decades ago, has called the referendum an illegal act and taken police and court action to block it.
State police arrested Catalonias junior economy minister, Josep Maria Jove, on Wednesday in an unprecedented raid of regional government offices.
Acting under court orders, police have also raided printers, newspaper offices and private delivery companies in a search for campaign literature, instruction manuals for manning voting stations and ballot boxes.
It is obvious that we wont be able to vote as we would have liked, Oriol Junqueras, deputy head and economy minister of the regional government, told local television TV3. They have altered the rules.
Mind Hack How Corporations Took Over Our Bodies and Brains "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
By Dr. Joseph Mercola
The science is in: Processed food is addictive, can make you extremely unhappy and will prematurely kill you. How did this happen? And how have food manufacturers been able to deceive the world about these facts? Dr. Robert Lustig has written a new book, The Hacking of the American Mind: The Science Behind the Corporate Takeover of Our Bodies and Brains, in which he explains how and why this occurred.
He is perhaps most well-known for his brilliant research into sugar and obesity, and his previous book, Fat Chance: Beating the Odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity and Disease, was a New York Times Best Seller. Lustig is an emeritus professor of pediatrics in the division of endocrinology at the University of California, San Francisco, and a member of the Institute for Health Policy Studies. Since the last time I interviewed him, hes also completed a masters in public health law.
The Genesis of Hacking of the American Mind
The motivation for The Hacking of the American Mind began some 30 years ago, while still a postdoctoral fellow in neuroscience at Rockefeller University. There, he learned about the interaction between dopamine and serotonin in the brain. At the time, only basic correlational data existed, but there appeared to be a very specific interaction going on between these two neurochemicals.
As I was researching the data for Fat Chance, four years ago, it became very clear that the data had come in on the role of diet and behavioral health, Lustig says. In addition, we also now had neuroimaging studies. I realized everything was falling into place that this issue, dopamine and serotonin, was actually at the core of what had now become our depression and opiate crises.
At the same time, I was giving Psychiatry Grand Rounds at a U.S. medical school in 2014. The woman who ran their outpatient treatment program took me on a tour of their facility. She was a recovered addict herself. She said something to me that was so jarring. She said, When I was shooting up, I was happy. What my new life has brought me is pleasure.
The Only Memorial Robert E. Lee Should Ever Get "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
I dont think Robert E. Lee is the personification of evil. He was a complicated man who had many admirable qualities. But he made the wrong decision when he decided to commit treason in the defense of slavery, and we need to always keep some key statistics in mind. Approximately 620,000 Americans lost their lives in the Civil War. On the Union side, 360,222 people died preserving the integrity and unity of our nation. You cant celebrate Gen. Lees military genius without taking into consideration his contribution to those numbers.
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of space to bury 360,222 people. The available burial plots in and around northern Virginia filled up quickly.
At the outbreak of the Civil War, most military personnel who died in battle near Washington, D.C., were buried at the United States Soldiers Cemetery in Washington, D.C., or Alexandria Cemetery in Alexandria, Virginia, but by late 1863 both were nearly full. On July 16, 1862, Congress passed legislation authorizing the U.S. federal government to purchase land for national cemeteries for military dead, and put the U.S. Army Quartermaster General in charge of this program. In May 1864, Union forces suffered large numbers of dead in the Battle of the Wilderness. Quartermaster General Montgomery C. Meigs ordered that an examination of eligible sites be made for the establishment for a large new national military cemetery. Within weeks, his staff reported that Arlington Estate was the most suitable property in the area. The property was high and free from floods (which might unearth graves), it had a view of the District of Columbia, and it was aesthetically pleasing. It was also the home of the leader of the armed forces of the Confederate States of America, and denying Robert E. Lee use of his home after the war was a valuable political consideration.
Its nice to pretend that the Arlington Estates high ground was a major consideration, but we all know that burying the dead in Robert E. Lees yard was a way of punishing him for his treachery and the butchery we was causing to the Union forces. Arlington National Cemetery is the nations monument to Robert E. Lee. It is a fully appropriate fuck you to a man who was invited to lead the Unions forces but chose to fight for secession and slavery.
On April 18 [1861], Lee met separately with Francis Preston Blair Sr. and General Winfield Scott. Empowered by Lincoln to ascertain Lees intentions and feelings, Blair asked Lee to assume command of the army being raised to put down the rebell...
Can the Senate Republicans Get to Fifty? "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Senate Republicans seem exasperated with Rand Pauls contempt for their stupid Graham-Cassidy health care idiocy. But apparently they arent even trying to change his mind. I dont think most Democrats trust Sen. Paul to vote no, but his Republican colleagues seem convinced that he will. Thats why theyre focused on flipping two votes from the three members who voted against and killed the moronic skinny repeal bill back in early August.
Of the three, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine seems like the hardest case. But if they cant convince her to basically walk back everything shes said about health care over the last two months, theyll have to get both Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska to come over to their fantasyland idea of rational health care policymaking.
Now, Murkowski and Collins are both supporters of Planned Parenthood and while they might not have the best voting records, theyre more pro- than anti-choice. I suppose neither side would really want to claim Murkowski, but shes definitely an unnatural ally of the Graham-Cassidy bill.
Which makes this interesting:
[Rand] Paul is also drawing opposition from the anti-abortion lobby, a reliable ally. Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said Pauls outright opposition to the bill and his dismissiveness of the pro-life priorities within it is alarming and damaging and called his stance an unacceptable position for a pro-life Senator to have.
Sergio Gor, a spokesman for Paul, replied: There is no one more pro life then Senator Rand Paul.
If opposing Graham-Cassidy is an unacceptable position for an anti-choice senator to have, then supporting it must be an unacceptable position for a pro-choice senator to have. If that holds, it would seem that theres no chance that Collins and Murkowski will flip.
Now, Murkowski has a nuanced position. Shes Catholic and personally morally opposed to abortion, but she also interprets her oath of office as committing her to upholding the Constitution. And she says that the Constitution protects abortion rights. On the other hand, she also interprets the Constitution as allowing reasonable federa...
Lowry, Trump and The Handmaid's Tale "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Its kind of amazing what Republican politicians are willing to say once theyve made the decision to retire. For example, Rep. David Reichert of Washington states 8th congressional district, recently had some candid things to say about President Trump. The congressman has an interesting background. While serving in the King County sheriffs department in the 2000s, he helped track down and arrest the Green River killer. Gary Ridgway was responsible for murdering perhaps as many as ninety women, primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Reichert became a bit of a hero for apprehending him and that launched his political career. It probably also helped him survive in a competitive district through a couple of rough election cycles for Republicans. For whatever reasons, however, Reichert doesnt want to test 2018 and he recently announced that he wont seek reelection.
Now that he doesnt really need to worry about what his right-leaning constituents think, hes willing to be honest about what he thinks of our president:
Retiring Republican Rep. Dave Reichert said if President Donald Trump had made his 2005 comments about grabbing women in Washington when he was a cop, he would have arrested him.
Reichert was speaking in an interview with Vice News about the difficulty moderate Republicans face.
Reichert, a former sheriff in King County, Washington, said he never endorsed Trump last year. He also said that as a former police officer, Trumps Access Hollywood comments revealed in October resonated with him.
When somebody says that you know, those recordings came out regarding sexual assaults, he said. If the statute of limitations was still in existence, and he made those comments in King County, and you know it happened in King County, thats a person that I would have to arrest.
Reichert said Trumps comments were sort of an admission of guilt from him.
There was no reasonable explanation for those words, he said.
I thought about Reicherts comments when I saw how upset Rich Starbursts Lowry is about The Handmaids Tale winning eight Emmy awards. What annoyed Lowry more than anything was the perception that the Hulu mini-series...
The Danger to Obamacare is Real "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
In this case, the Democrats are correct. The reason that House Speaker Paul Ryan and the White House are loudly signaling that they have no interest in pursuing the bipartisan negotiations between Senate HELP Committee leaders Lamar Alexander and Patty Murray is because theyre engaged in a whip operation in support of the Graham-Cassidy Obamacare repeal bill:
Democrats portrayed the rejection of the bipartisan push as intended to create pressure on Senate Republicans to hold their nose and support the Graham-Cassidy bill, and as the only way out of the partys political quagmire. If that bill fails, Republicans may have to return to bipartisan talks, particularly if Trump again threatens to halt subsidy payments.
A few things have happened in recent weeks that have revived the Republicans interest in giving repeal another go. One is that Trump started talking aggressively about turning to the Democrats to make deals since the Republicans clearly cannot deliver on their own. Another is brutal polling data. Gallup has approval of Congress at somewhere between 16% and 18% in August and September among Republican voters. It was at 50% among Republicans in February. For context, Democratic voters give Congress a 14% approval number. Probably more importantly, a quick glance at the generic congressional preference polling shows that the GOPs position has deteriorated badly since the failure in early August to repeal Obamacare. Before August, the Dems advantage ranged roughly between two and six percent, with only a couple of more disturbing outliers. Since the failed vote on Obamacare, however, the range is more like six to nine percent. The RealClearPolitics rolling average is actually at 9.2% at the moment, which is high enough to predict a wave election that could cost the Republicans control of the House of Representatives. A third recent development is that the Senate parliamentarian clarified that the Republicans must repeal Obamacare by September 30th or give up trying. Thats because their special budget reconciliation instructions will expire at the end of the fiscal y...
Paul Manafort and the Russia Investigation "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Lawfare is very thorough but also very cautious, which is what I think we want from them. You wont find them saying things like Paul Manafort is going to jail, but you will get some very solid analysis of the latest news reporting (e.g., CNN and New York Times) and the legal meaning of those stories.
Two very meaningful things have been solidly established now. First, the government convinced a FISA court judge that there was reason to believe that Manafort was engaging in clandestine intelligence gathering activities for or on behalf of a foreign power or was pursuant to the direction of an intelligence service or network of a foreign power, knowingly engaging in some other clandestine intelligence activities for or on behalf of such foreign power. In fact, the government convinced the FISA court of this twice, once in 2014 before Manafort was hired by Donald Trump, and once again in 2016 after he was fired by Donald Trump.  Additionally, the Special Counsel has convinced a federal judge that there was likely evidence of a crime both at Manaforts Virginia residence and at a storage facility owned by Manafort, which is why they were able to obtain warrants to search both.
The second very significant thing is that Manafort is going to be indicted for some kind of crime or crimes unless he becomes more useful as a witness.  Lawfare refuses to speculate about what those crimes might be, but Im not so reticent. The New York Times article says Mr. Manafort is under investigation for possible violations of tax laws, money-laundering prohibitions and requirements to disclose foreign lobbying. Hes also obviously under investigation for possibly working as an agent of a foreign powers intelligence service and for engaging in clandestine activities on their behalf. In other words, hes suspected of cooperating with the Russians in their interference in the presidential election. I think its fair to say that Manafort can be indicted right now for the crimes listed by the Times but may still be clear on the more series charges. I doubt however, that Manafort is overly worried about getting nailed for failing to fill out...
Americas Retail Is Crumbling: Toys R US Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. Toys R Us have over 60,000 employees. They occupy the anchor position in many of the malls. The loss of Toys R Us will lead to decreased foot traffic to other nearby stores.  This is the beginning of the collapse of Retail in America. Here is the complete story.
Crippled by Competition and Debt
Toys R Us, one of the worlds largest toy store chains, has filed for bankruptcy protection, becoming the latest casualty of the pressures facing brick-and-mortar retailers.
New US Government Study on Fluoride Damage to Brain "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"
Fluoride Free New Zealand is calling on the 23 councils (out of the total of 67) that still fluoridate, to urgently implement a moratorium on fluoridation to protect the brains of children being born today in their community.
A major study published on Tuesday in the US Governments Environmental Health Perspectives has found that children born to mothers exposed to fluoride while pregnant, have significantly lower IQ scores. This is particularly relevant to New Zealand where half of the population is currently subjected to fluoridation.
The study measured fluoride in urine and found the average level of fluoride in urine was 0.9mg/L (mg/L = parts per million). To relate this to water fluoride concentration, a separate study found that pregnant women in an area with 0.4 to 0.8 ppm water fluoride only had slightly lower urine fluoride than the average participants in this study. The Ministry of Health recommends fluoride chemicals be added to the water at 0.85ppm.
Pregnant women in New Zealand in fluoridated areas likely have similar levels of urine fluoride as those in the Mexican study. Urine fluoride reflects total fluoride intake from all sources, not just fluoridated water. The paper also reports that in the USA, which is 70% fluoridated, urine fluoride ranges from about 0.5 to 1.5 mg/L which fully overlaps the range found in the Mexican study.
The child of a mother who was drinking water with 0.85ppm fluoride would be predicted to have 5 IQ lower IQ points than if the mother had drunk water with close to zero fluoride in it. This obviously has huge consequences for New Zealand children.
The Ministry of Health recommended 1ppm until the 1990s when it reduced to a range from 0.7ppm to 1ppm, with a target of 0.85ppm. The US Human and Health Services have directed a maximum of 0.7ppm for fluoridation.
This study was very carefully done by a group of researchers who have produced over 50 papers on the cognitive health of children in relationship to environmental exposures.  It was funded by the US Governments National Institute of Health and was a multi-million dollar study.  This was the groups first study of fluoride their other studies mostly dealing with lead, mercury and other environmental neurotoxicants.
This study controlled for a wide range of potential factors that might have skewed the results and produced a false effect.  It was able to largely rule out confounding effects by these other factors.  The factors ruled out included lead, mercury, socio-economic status, smoking, alcohol use, and health problems during pregnancy.
This study offers confirmation of previous studies in Mexico, China....
Lure of Greatness, the video "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Caroline Lucas MP, Zadie Smith, John Cleese, Kate Raworth, Aditya Chakrabortty, Peter Oborne, Quentin Skinner, Niki Seth Smith and Ralph Pritchard enjoy Anthony Barnett's new book.
In early August, before it was officially published, The New Statesman published a striking review of Anthony Barnetts The Lure of Greatness by John Harris, welcoming it as a punk polemic. Harris has distinguished himself with his outstanding video reports, Anywhere but Westminster. Taking a real interest in what goes on outside the bubble he engaged with Barnetts argument - that the frustration of English democracy and voice and its capture by Great Britishness was a determining factor in Brexit.
After that, there was no response at all in the main London newspapers to Barnetts call to understand the reasons for Brexit and Trump.  With the exception of Suzanne Moore in her G2 column, there seems to be a reluctance to confront his case that there are profound democratic causes which have enflamed millions. So we decided to make a video for social media to let readers know that the book existed. Here it is. Please share it and read the book, it is very stimulating.
Just as the video was finished Fintan OToole wrote a blistering review in The Irish Times that recognises the link between the best book on Brexit so far and openDemocracy flying the flag for transparency, reform and genuine popular power.
Please join Caroline Lucas MP, Suzanne Moore, Anthony Barnett and others to debate Confronting Brexit and Trump at London's Emmanuel Centre, 31 Oct 2017 7.30 to 9.15. Tickets here.
Gold Investment Compelling As Fed May Kill The Business Cycle "IndyWatch Feed Allworld"
Gold Investment Compelling As Fed Likely To Create Next Recession
Is the Fed about to kill the business cycle?
16 out of 19 rate-hike cycles in past 100 years ended in recession
 Total global debt at all time high see chart
Global debt is 327% of world GDP ticking timebomb
 Gold has beaten the market (S&P 500) so far this century
Safe haven demand to increase on debt and equity risk
 Gold looks very cheap compared to overbought markets
Important to diversify into safe haven gold now
by Frank Holmes via Gold.org
Global debt levels have reached unprecedented levels, pension deficits are rising and the US interest rate cycle is on the turn. Frank Holmes, chief executive of highly regarded investment management group US Global Investors, believes that investing in gold is a logical response to current, unnerving conditions.
For centuries, investors and savers have depended on gold in times of economic and political strife, and its investment case right now is as compelling as its ever been.
As I write this, gold is trading above US$1,330 an ounce after a strong rally that took the metal to its highest levels since August 2016. Tensions over North Korea, a weakening US dollar, political uncertainty in Washington, an overvalued US stock market, surging public and private debt and negative interest rates around the world have all boosted demand for gold as a reliable and time-tested store of value.
I often refer to this as the Fear Trade. For centuries, investors and savers have depended on gold in times of economic and political strife, and its investment case right now is as compelling as its ever been.
Lets look at debt for the moment. Most market-watchers are aware that US government debt currently stands at just under US$20 trillion, an unfathomably large figure that will only continue to climb as the interest compounds.
Nnamdi Kanu: The Morning After
By Jideofor Adibe @JideoforAdibe
Nigeria Daily Trust
Sep 21 2017 2:00AM
In my column of September 7 2017 entitled, Nnamdi Kanu and the Redeemer Complex, I made a few propositions about Nnamdi Kanu that now seem prophetic. I will like to quote two passages from that piece:
...a redeemer movement becomes dangerous when the leader starts believing so much in his own hype or the hype of his followers that he loses all sense of proportion. At this stage, the danger of doing something really stupid is high. I have read people telling Nnamdi Kanu that he is bigger than Buhari or that no one can touch him. He will be a fool to act on such hype.
Standing in front of a moving train is stupidity, not a demonstration of courage. It will be naive to mistake the defence of ethnic pride that led to the mobilization to get him out of detention with a blank cheque to force his vision of Biafra and how it will be actualized on everyone - without debate. The meeting with the Five Governors of the Southeast is a golden opportunity, a soft landing if you like - for Kanu to start normalizing his agitation within the framework of the Igbo political mainstream. As the Igbos would say, a fly who listens to no advice, invariably gets buried with the corpse. Apparently Nnamdi Kanu only listened to his own hype and the hype of his followers.
Now that the militarys Operation Python Dance 11 exercise has managed to lower the tension in the Southeast (despite inconveniences to the civilian population) and IPOBs activities have been proscribed, it is important to reflect on the lessons learnt from the whole situation:
One, is the danger of groupthink. In groupthink, loyalty to the group requires individuals to avoid raising controversial or non-conforming issues and ideas or even alternative solutions. One of the consequences of this is that the in-group often significantly overrates its own abilities in decision-making, significantly underrates the abilities of its opponents (the out-group) and believes passionately, even irrationally, in the inherent morality and rightness of the cause(s) they espouse. Groupthink can produce dehumanizing actions and utterances against the out-group in the forms of s...
sewing: linen hadley top "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"
This post is written by Lindsay of @lindsayinstitches
I adore Grainline Studio patterns. Somehow Jen manages to create styles that are on trend but completely classic at the same time. The Hadley pattern is no exception, especially when worn as a linen Hadley top.
The theme on the blog this week is How do you wear your Hadley? As you have already seen from the other contributors, there are so many ways. Given the season change, my initial thought was that my Hadley should have sleeves, but then I wondered how the tank might work as a layering piece.
I decided to go sleeveless like view B, but with the jewel neckline and pleated keyhole back from view A.
When deciding on a fabric for my Hadley (available in the shop as both a digital and printed pattern), I was immediately drawn to this beautiful linen in the shop. Doesnt it just scream fall to you? Makes me want to eat all things pumpkin!
Having worked with Brussels Washer Linen before, I knew it would have just the right weight and drape for this pattern. All the texture of traditional linen but none of the stiffness. Hooray for 45% rayon content!
The earthiness of the linen was giving me a strong sweater vest vibe, but in the best way. I decided to roll with that, and Im loving how this looks over a crisp collared shirt! Im also thinking it could be fantastic over a stripey tee or under a cardigan.
Thats what is so great about this pattern. It comes with multiple views built in, but when you mix up....
This 1-Acre Permaculture Farm in Australia Can Feed 50 Families "IndyWatch Feed Allaunews"
By Amanda Froelich
By 2050, the worlds human population is expected to reach 9.7 billion. Considering 795 million people still go to bed hungry each evening, this is concerning. Fortunately, sustainable solutions exist, and they include vertical gardening and permaculture farming  among others. The latter has been employed on a one-acre farm in Australia and reportedly works so well, enough produce is grown to feed 50 families.
The Limestone Permaculture Farm may be minute in size, but it produces enough produce to feed dozens of families. Started when wife Nici developed an illness, the farm now educates the local community about permaculture and even offers internships.
TreeHugger reports that the Coopers have been farming for close to a decade. At Limestone Permaculture Farm, they grow organic produce, raise sheep goats and chickens, keep bees, and even build with recycled materials. Much of the farm is powered by energy from wood, water, and the sun.
The premise of permaculture is to mimic the social design principles observed in natural ecosystems. Opposite of large-scale mono-cropping (growing one crop at a time), permaculture farming creates symbiosis so a variety of plants may thrive. Some of the permaculture principles implemented by the Coopers include swales, a chicken tractor and even self-seeding edible ground cover.
Extensive list of weather control patents prove the technology exists to augment and control powerful storms
Image: Extensive list of weather control patents prove the technology exists to augment and control powerful storms
(Natural News) Extreme weather events like Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Hurricane Irma in Florida seem to be on the upswing, and some people are now asking themselves: is there more to these types of storms than meets the eye? A quick perusal of the governments many patents and trademarks for weather modification and geoengineering suggests that the powers that be, indeed, have covert tools at their disposal that are capable of affecting and perhaps even controlling certain elements of the weather.
Compiled by GeoEngineeringWatch.org, the list dates back to 1891 and offers some keen insights as to what the deep state could be up to in terms of creating severe weather events. The earliest known patent, filed on July 16, 1891, is entitled, Method of Producing Rain-fall. It explains how the rapid evaporation and air chilling can be used to create condensation in the atmosphere cloud-seeding, so to speak thus producing more rain. A man by the name of Louis Gathmann of Chicago, Illinois, is credited as being the inventor of this technique.
Several decades later on August 6, 1913, another patent was filed by a man named James M. Cordray for a Rain-Maker balloon that can supposedly produce rain at any given time, even during dry seasons. Several others of the earliest known geoengineering patents, in fact, all pertain to creating artificial rain, clouds, and...
German woman raped, left tied to pole naked in Rome
Victim is 57-year-old German, found nude by taxi driver
(ANSA) - Rome, September 18 - A 57-year-old German woman was raped last night at Rome's Villa Borghese park, sources said Monday.
The woman was found gagged and naked tied to a pole in the park by a taxi driver at around 1am on Monday, the sources said.
The driver untied the woman, who was in a state of shock, and called the police.
She told police that she was attacked where she was found, the sources added.
The clothes of the woman, who has been in Italy for six months and has been taken to the city's Santo Spirito hospital, were found near to the pole. She told investigators that she was attacked by young man, aged around 20, probably a foreigner, the sources said.
He is also said to have robbed 40 euros from the woman, who is of no fixed abode. Police have been working in the park for several hours to find evidence that could lead to the assailant.
The case follows a series of recent acts of sexual violence in Italy, including in the capital.
Fluoride OKd for Albuquerque water supply "IndyWatch Feed Allcommunity"
Fluoride again will be added to Albuquerques water supply.
Water utility board members voted 5-2 Wednesday to approve a $250,000 appropriation that will allow the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority to buy the equipment needed to resume supplemental drinking-water fluoridation, which the utility halted in 2011.
The decision followed nearly an hour of passionate pleas by both opponents and supporters of fluoridation similar to comments expressed at two earlier public hearings on the issue.
At the end of the day, when theres a question about science, we need to listen to the scientists, board member and Albuquerque City Councilor Pat Davis said before he voted in favor of resuming fluoridation. Davis withdrew his proposal for an advisory question on the 2018 general election ballot that would have asked Bernalillo County voters whether they support or oppose supplemental fluoridation.
Voting against the appropriation were Albuquerque Councilors Klarissa Pea and Trudy Jones. Joining Davis in support were Bernalillo County Commissioners Debbie OMalley, Wayne Johnson and Maggie Hart Stebbins and Albuquerques Chief Administrative Officer Rob Perry, who represents Mayor Richard Berry on the board.
Im just philosophically opposed to this, Jones said in explaining her opposition to fluoridation. I dont think at any time the government should add something to our water if some people dont want it.
Jones remarks echoed those of several opponents who told the board that people who want fluoride can obtain it from commercial products such as toothpaste and mouthwash and from fluoride treatments provided by dentists, but the water utility shouldnt force fluoride on people who believe they are harmed by it.
There are health concerns that people talked about, Pea said. For people with kidney disease theres a lot of concern about fluoride.
Pea also said she was troubled that supporters pitch drinking water fluoridation as a way of helping low-income children. To me its an assumption that lower-income children dont brush their teeth, she said.
The measure approved Wednesday requires the utility to maintain fluoride levels between 0.65 and 0.72 milligrams per liter in the public water supply.
Fluoride is a mineral found naturally in Albuquerques water supply at levels of about 0.4 to 0.5 milligram per liter, according to a report prepared by the utility staff.
The city began supplemental fluoridation in 1972, but ended the practice in 2011 while federal officials considered new recommendations about fluoridation levels.
In 2015, the U.S...
Arewa and Igbo youths, under the auspices of Arewa youths, Anambra state chapter and Igbo Peace movement, on Wednesday signed a peace pact with a resolve to the commitment of a united, peaceful and indissoluble Nigeria.
Signing the pact in Awka, Anambra State during a press conference, the groups, resolved to take steps towards ensuring that no civil unrest would be experienced in the country again.
In a communique signed by the President of Arewa Youths ,Alhaji Bello Maigari and the Leader of  Igbo Peace Movement, Divine Onyekachi, said the pact was necessary as there could be  reasons for agitations by some sections of the country.
They commended the federal and state governments for the measures taken in reassuring Nigerians of the country's unity, especially the recent visit of some Northern governors to douse the tension in the south eastern region.
"Peace and unity of the country are paramount and should supersede every other interest.
"The country's strength is in the nation's unity in diversity and only convergence of efforts from all ethnic groups can make Nigeria reclaim its rightful place in the comity of nations." the group stated.
They underscored the need for Nigerians to always channel their energy and resources on things that would restore the lost glory of Nigeria rather than things that would divide it.
